After a few buckets, the black paint held its color and didn’t scuff like the claims on competitor irons with similar finishes. The concerning part is the finish of the clubface and how this holds up to use. What about durability? The Burner 2.0 iron seems to be a well manufactured golf club that will hold shape round after round. Chrome is aesthetically pleasing on other products, so why not use the idea on a golf club? While I’m not sure if this finish has any performance attributes, I don’t mind it on the sole of my club. The center of the sole is covered in a chrome-like finish and is unique in comparison to the competition. What struck me as strange was the sole of the club, not to say it is a problem. Traditionalists may not enjoy the dark finish, nor the busy cavity of the iron, but I can’t imagine a majority of today’s golfers passing on these irons based on looks. The dark, charcoal finish certainly helps alleviate the appearance of an oversized iron, and the gray center on the club face immediately draws the golfer’s attention and concentration to the impact area. They maintain a game improvement size but manage to have a thinner sole and top-line than some of its “chunkier” game improvement competitors. These irons are by no means a traditional looking set. The first category is probably the most distinguishable from the rest. From prior testing I came to the conclusion that I would not upgrade the shaft or grip because I liked the feel and performance of the two. My order consisted of a 6 iron through PW to replace my current Supersteel irons. Kudos to The Golf Warehouse and Taylor Made for their excellent collaboration and service!

Needless to say, I still received the clubs quicker than I had expected. I had waited about a month for Taylor Made to make adjustments to fit my specifications and was more than anxious to receive these sticks. Opening the Taylor Made box that housed my custom-made irons was like Christmas morning as a child. So, it is here where I wanted to provide fellow golfers a detailed and hands-on review to supplement their buying decisions, or to curb their curiosity of the newest technology coming from Taylor Made. And when I would search for a review, a description consisting only of the 2.0 technology appeared more often than not. As I have mentioned in my previous post, the selection of reviews for these irons is limited on the web. As promised, here is a comprehensive review of the Taylor Made Burner 2.0 irons, the latest in the Burner series.
